What's your major? Underwater basket weaving?!

One logical fallacy [straw man] I was able to identify in PCU was that students could choose any major and successfully obtain a degree as long as the student was able to 'bull shit' well. This comment in the movie irritated me to the fullest extent. I am a nursing major and I work hard. I do not sit around in my dorm twiddling my stubby, little thumbs. I designate much time to studying. I put forth the effort to attend SI sessions after lectures, I make appointments with my professors if I need help, I participate in group study sessions before tests and quizzes. I put my heart into my work, not excrement from my rear end. This movie totally underestimates college students and does not give credibility to the students who work hard.

I feel the same way you feel Vanessa. It seems like all "college- based" movies portray only negative images involving college. I'm beginning to question if the writers and producers of these ridiculous films actually attended college first- hand. I wonder how you master the art of underwater basket weaving anyway?? They just make up hobbies and call them degrees as to say that college really is just basically bullsh*t, from the classes, to the professors, and the degrees. We work too hard here to be portrayed so unfairly.

I totally agree with your stance Vanessa. It is sad that many people associate college students with being lazy and not giving a care in the world and this movie amplifies this negative aspect of college. Like you, i also work hard for my grades because i'm here to achieve my goal.

I completely agree with your view on the movie ,PCU, in fact I chose this same issue for my blog entry. I definitely do not try and "bull shit" my way through college.I am also a nursing major and I definitely know that our work load is large and it should not be taken lightly. Most students actually do work hard for their grades.
